Privacy Policy
Last updated October 8, 2026. Applies to the Basics of Love app ("30 Days & 30 Ways") and basicsoflove.com.
The short version
- Your private journal never leaves your phone. Private Thoughts and your self assessments are stored only on your device. We cannot see them, and they are not backed up to our servers.
- What you choose to share goes to your partner. Shared Thoughts and the optional one-line ask are stored on our server so your partner can read them, and are visible only to the two of you.
- We do not sell your information, and the app contains no advertising or third-party tracking.
What we collect in the app
- Email address, to send your sign-in code and identify your account.
- Display name, if you set one, shown to your partner.
- Pairing: which account you are paired with, through a six-character invite code.
- Shared Thoughts and asks that you send, with the day they belong to and when they were sent or edited.
- A push notification token, so we can tell you when your partner shares.
- Purchase status: whether your account has unlocked the full journal. Payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card. Purchase records pass through RevenueCat, our in-app purchase provider.
Your reading progress, reminders and journal entries are stored on your device.
How we use it
To run the app: sign you in, connect you with your partner, deliver what you share, notify you, and unlock what you bought. We also add your email to our customer list (GoHighLevel) with simple tags such as "installed" or "finished day 30", so we can send occasional updates about Basics of Love and coaching. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
The website
basicsoflove.com uses Google Analytics and a cookie for site sessions. Forms you fill in (the quiz, booking a call) are stored in our customer list.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run the app and site: Amazon Web Services (hosting, email delivery), Expo (push notifications), RevenueCat, Apple and Google (purchases), GoHighLevel (customer list), and Google Analytics (website only). We share information if the law requires it.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to More → Delete my account. This deletes your account, everything you shared, and your pairing, immediately. Your partner's own shares stay with them. Deleting the app removes your private journal from your phone. You can also email stephen@stephenbickle.com and we will delete your data within 30 days.
Children
The app is for adults in relationships and is not directed to anyone under 18.
